The Paragon Board is Diablo 4's endgame progression system, unlocked at level 50. This beginner-friendly guide explains everything you need to know for Season 6.

Paragon Board grid system in Diablo 4

What is the Paragon Board?

After reaching level 50, every additional level grants you 1 Paragon Point to spend on a giant skill grid. The grid is per-class and has multiple boards you unlock by completing specific objectives.

How Boards Work

  1. Start Board: All classes share the same starter board with generic bonuses
  2. Specialty Boards: Unlocked by completing Nightmare Dungeons at tier 50+
  3. Each board has a Legendary Node (the main reward) + Glyph sockets + Normal nodes
  4. Glyphs are socketed into specific nodes and provide powerful bonuses based on nearby stats

Step 1: Spend Your Starter Points Wisely

Most classes should path toward their main stat in the early game:

ClassMain Stat
SorcererIntelligence
BarbarianStrength
DruidWillpower
RogueDexterity
NecromancerIntelligence
SpiritbornDexterity

Step 2: Unlock Your First Specialty Board

The first specialty board you should unlock depends on your build:

  • DPS builds: Choose the board that has your main stat as a reward
  • Tank builds: Choose the board with Maximum Life or All Resistances as reward
  • Resource-heavy builds: Choose the board with Resource Cost Reduction as reward

Step 3: Socket and Level Your Glyphs

Glyphs are the biggest power boost on the Paragon Board. To get them:

  1. Reach Pit tier 30 to start earning glyph XP
  2. Each glyph levels from 1 to 46 — gain XP by killing monsters within range of its socket
  3. At max level, glyphs provide powerful bonuses based on nearby stats

Common Glyph Pairings:

  • DPS: +Strength/Intelligence + Critical Strike Damage
  • Tank: +Maximum Life + Armor
  • Speed: +Movement Speed + Attack Speed

Step 4: Connect Boards Efficiently

You can move between boards via portal nodes. To minimize wasted points:

  1. Plan your route from the start board through specialty boards in order
  2. Don't detour to grab every node — focus on stat bonuses for your build
  3. Save points for the Legendary Node reward on each board

Common Mistakes

  • Spending all points on a single stat — diminishing returns kick in around 200 points
  • Ignoring glyph XP — your glyph is your biggest power source
  • Following a guide blindly — your gear may favor different stats
  • Forgetting to swap boards for free respeccing (no point refund needed)

Endgame Paragon Levels

At max level (70 with Vessel of Hatred, 80 with Season 7+), you'll have 200+ Paragon Points. Spend them by:

  1. Max your 4 main glyphs first
  2. Path toward 2-3 Legendary Nodes
  3. Fill remaining nodes with main stat
  4. Last 20 points: save for next season's content
